Hey Everyone,
I finally got off my lazy butt and started practicing what we preach here. The past 2 weeks I have spent 15-30 minutes per day doing repetitions (usually around 120) in an effort to improve my backswing. (I spent most of last year working on my takeaway and got it in reasonably good shape.)
Below are comparison pics, with the one on the left from last year, and the one on the right earlier today. The main things I was working on were the following: shoulder elevation, keeping my head from swaying off the ball (causing too much axis tilt), staying in the box, and keeping my right elbow close to my body.
While nothing is perfect, I am pretty happy at my progress on all accounts. However, I noticed an obvious problem and [...]

Chuck, Al,Study Chuck & TW’s backswing, I see TW’s spine is square on shoulder rotating plane and Chuck’s is not. That means Chuck rotate the shoulder a little bit flatter relatively. So my confuse for my takeaway is how much my shoulder blade glide along the spine. I think it is almost gliding toward spine and very less down along the spine but I need to quantity this movement. Help me!Sonadt

I was watching some video on tiger and chuck and trying to notice the main similarities. one thing that i did notice is that they both seem to open the clubface open during the takeaway and backswing. I havent seen any of that discussed in the RST videos or in forum topics. what is the significance of this move and how is it best accomplished? t_mac1213

I’ve been really working on my takeaway. working mainly on keeping my right arm more straight in the backswing and keeping my width. swing feels good and compact, not too many moving parts, but it looks to be just a tad flat I think. Take a look and let me know what i’m missing…6 iron dtl- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F0963oryPgI 6 iron fo- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mP0yIyFaKnM 3w dtl- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XY8VNXEUMZ4 3w fo- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pgMIxrCTiPk

I wanted to share this with the forum given the popularity of using the 9 to 3 drill to work on grooving proper Takeaway and Weight Shift fundamentals. On the left is a good example of allowing the hips to turn along with the torso in the backswing. Notice the difference between Chuck’s hip position when performing the drill. Remember, Move 1 should be executed by the shoulders turning 45 degrees and the hips turn 0 degrees.
