Martin is truly a fine golfer in the making. We focused on a couple key things which started with setup. His tendency was to let his hips slide out on the backswing, so we altered his setup to assist with this. After altering the setup, he had a tendency to get his spine leaning toward the target so that was what we tackled next. The last image on the right is where he’s heading with his swing. He hit a lot of great shots yesterday, and yes, including the perfect wedge shot on 18 after hitting balls for 4 hours in the morning!

During practice sessions over the last week I have visualized several different techniques of moving the weight into the left heel on the downswing. The technique that has worked best is one I have not found in any forum on this website and I wanted to get some feedback. From the top of the backswing, I imagine my left hip traveling in a direction 45 degrees to the left of the target line (for reference, I am saying moving down the target line would represent 0 degrees and moving perpendicular to the target line would be 90 degrees). Each time I execute this move properly the weight moves into my left heel, my left glute is activated, and I am automatically put into NJA. Did I stumble onto something solid here…..?

Chuck, Al,Move 2 mentions that shoulder turn 90, hip turn 45 (the shoulder is 45 turn over the hip), but in the end of Move 1 shoulder has turned 45 over the hip already. So the main turning in Move 2 is hip turn 45*.Because shoulder do not turn over the hip so you do not use oblique muscle anymore (either internal or external) to finish the backswing as mention in videos or in new manual. The movement by the muscle is “fix one end, pull the other”.My question is which major muscle you use to turn the hip in this Move 2?Sonadt

Hi Chuck, After 20 years of receiving golfing instructions from various “guru”, I am glad I stumbled upon Ritary Swing. I have gone through most of your instruction videos and guess I understood the mechanics. I am able to reach the backswing, but in the downswing, I am unable to get my body to rotate, i.e. I still tend to come down with my arms first. Have I misunderstood the instructions and/or done something wrong? Thanks,CH LimSingapore

Today I was 4 under after 8 on our front nine and had a soft bogie on the ninth to turn 3 under. Was delayed at the tenth for around 20-25 mins and then proceded to shoot 6 over. Five very poor tee shots cost me 6 shots. I was very disappointed to have a good round goin and then ruin it.I struggled to keep my timing as I know I’m going to hard with the hips and getting stuck. More throw the ball and right arm only drills! However, the positives are RST has shortened my backswing which has plagued me for a few years, distance with all clubs in the bag has improved and short irons are getting more accurate! To top it all off I have only been to the range once since before Xmas.
