I am new to the Rotary Swing, and I have a question on setup. I understand the concept of setting up 1 inch outside of neutral, but as I follow the setup routine should I initially setup my back leg (I am right handed) neutral and as I complete the final step “hip bump and axis tilt”. The reason I ask is I believe the ”hip bump and axis tilt” will shift my right hip naturally to the left which would my hip inside 1 inch.

Hey Everyone,
I finally got off my lazy butt and started practicing what we preach here. The past 2 weeks I have spent 15-30 minutes per day doing repetitions (usually around 120) in an effort to improve my backswing. (I spent most of last year working on my takeaway and got it in reasonably good shape.)
Below are comparison pics, with the one on the left from last year, and the one on the right earlier today. The main things I was working on were the following: shoulder elevation, keeping my head from swaying off the ball (causing too much axis tilt), staying in the box, and keeping my right elbow close to my body.
While nothing is perfect, I am pretty happy at my progress on all accounts. However, I noticed an obvious problem and [...]

Chuck & Al,
First, the videos, instructions and concepts are exceptional. Working with my 12 year old son he has played competitive since he was 5. I have worked for 2 years on his set up as he wanted to shrug the front shoulder up – head nearly in front of the ball – no axis tilt. Just could not make him understand. Showed him RST overview video where you took club with left hand first and so on. Unbelievable – first time he tried it – picture perfect. Oh well enough praise.
His problem – fast hips with very little hip bump – I believe he is in good position at the top – the hips simply unwind – appears that right heel releases early – comes under with reverse C at impact – most of the time [...]

I was just curious what our ball position should be for putting, chipping/pitching, and bunker shots using RST?
I’ve experimented with adding a little axis tilt and moving the ball position to just forward of the logo on my shirt while putting and get a better roll and am more consistent. I was wondering if the same RST ball position fundamentals apply to other short game shots as well, since it makes sense anatomically?
